BACKGROUND
McClure & Wolf's
origin dates back to 1926 when Roscoe C. Tenney
started an accounting practice in Uniontown,
Pennsylvania, under the name
of Tenney and Company. Mr. Tenney was a pioneer in the development of the
accounting profession in Fayette
County and enjoyed an
enviable reputation for over three decades. Upon his retirement in 1958,
the firm's name was changed to McClure & Wolf to reflect the continuing
partners, Ned L. McClure (1918-2006) and Irvin Wolf (1913-1996). Our other
retired partners include James E. Churilla
(Retired-1995) and Michael E. Revak (Retired-2005). Today, the firm
continues under the direction of our current partners, James R. Foutz,
James A. Dinsmore, David E. Priest, Jeffrey W. McCabe, and Eli T. (J.R.)
Elias.
Our firm is
recognized as a regional leader in the profession and has expanded its
practice through various mergers and acquisitions of other accounting firms
in the surrounding areas. Purchases of accounting practices located in
Uniontown and the Mon Valley have produced a diversified team of
proactive professionals that allows us to offer a wide range of
professional services to clients in the Southwestern region of Pennsylvania.
Members of our firm
have assumed leadership roles in the accounting profession. Several have
been educators, authors, and lecturers, and have served on committees of
the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the National
Association of Accountants. In addition, we encourage our members to be
active in charitable and civic organizations. Several of our partners and
staff currently serve as officers, board members, and advisors to such
organizations.
Currently we service
over 2,000 clients located in 30 states. Clients range from individuals to
corporations and cover the entire spectrum of the Standard Industrial
Classification System. We are particularly interested in the special needs
of smaller, growing companies and feel we are equipped to serve them.
PHILOSOPHY
Since its inception
McClure & Wolf's philosophy has been to maintain an organization
capable of providing a diversified range of professional services with a
commitment to quality, while at the same time establishing opportunities
for our employees to experience interesting and satisfying careers.
Consequently, a program of staff training has been followed through
participation in AICPA and PICPA sponsored continuing education and staff
development courses, supplemented by in-house and on-the-job training.
We have always been
selective, both in our hiring policies and in accepting new clients. We
strongly believe that a high degree of selectivity creates a mutual desire
to be associated with quality. This philosophy has enabled us to enjoy an
enviable reputation for competence, integrity and independence. It is with
these attributes that McClure & Wolf anticipates and welcomes the challenges
of the future.
